                "Fibrinogen and C-reactive protein in normal and mild, severe preeclamptic pregnant women.

                                                "This study was conducted at Ain Shams University, Maternity Hospital and Zagazig General Hospital, the study included 60 pregnant women in the third trimester.

In current study, levels of serum CRP and plasma fibrinogen are tested as markers for early prediction of preeclampsia and detection of severity of preeclampsia. Because these laboratory tests are cheap, available and easily applicable.

The total number of sixty women was included and divided into three groups:

Group A (20 pregnant women): mild preeclamptic patients.

Group B (20 pregnant women): severe preeclamptic patients.

Group C (20 normal pregnant women): control group.

Patients selected for this study fulfilled the following inclusion criteria:

-              Primigravida.

-              Maternal age of 20-30 years.

-              Single viable pregnancy.

-              Gestational age of 34-40 weeks.

The exclusion criteria for this study were:

-              Presence of labour contractions and premature rupture of membranes.

-              Clinical chorioamnionitis.

-              No history of diabetes mellitus.

-              No history of chronic hypertension.

-              No history of symptomatic infectious disease.

-              No chronic renal disease.

-              No history of given corticosteroids at least 7 days prior to sample taken."
